Super Bowl Ads
By Ralph Bryant
For years one of the major attractions to Super Bowl weekend has bee the commercials that are unveiled during the broadcast of the football game. As this is the most watched program of the year, of course the costs of the advertisements have increased. This year the cost of the commercial spots is $3 million for thirty seconds of air time. Some of the biggest companies in the country pay those prices in order to have their brand names broadcast during the big game. There is a pre-Super Bowl commercial by Miller High Life Beer pointing out that it is ludicrous to pay $100,000 per SECOND for an ad during the game. The ad is a funny jab at the competition, and may be talked about as much as the ads that are run on Sunday afternoon on NBC, which has broadcast rights for the Super Bowl.
